Taiwan Mobile to Switch on 4G Networks in 3Q 2014
February 25, 2014

Taiwan Mobile has released its plan to provide 4G LTE (Long-Term Evolution) services in the 700MHz frequency band in the third quarter of 2014, reported Taiwan's United Daily News on February 25. Compared to 1800MHz, the 700MHz spectrum can offer broader coverage and higher indoor penetration. The company has selected Nokia Solutions and Networks as its major equipment supplier for base stations and network deployment. The company was awarded concessions for 30 MHz in 700 MHz (A4) and 1800 MHz (C1) in Taiwan's 4G license auction in October 2013. Meanwhile, Taiwan Mobile also sets goals to migrate existing 2G users to 3G/4G, from 783,700 now to less than 300,000 by year-end 2014.
